So I see that you have three choices: get one from gunbroker ( probably expensive but you go shooting as soon as you unpack it) b) get one already cleaned up from IMA ( not quite as pricey) or c) get an "untouched" Snider from IMA and clean it up & repair the stock yourself. It is possible to import IMA's antique guns into Australia - I haven't tried it with the cartridge-firing rifles, although depending which state you're in (NSW & VIC treat .577 Snider & .577/450 Martini-Henry as an absolete calibre) it should still be the same process as for a percussion pre-1901 gun, which is pretty straight forward. cleaned like yours also several untouched Rifles and short rifles. The internals were still full of preservative (yak fat). I've bought both Martini Henry's and Sniders from IMA, but none were "untouched" rifles, so I never got the "experience" of restoring them although all of the internals were still covered in 100+ year-old yakoline. In fact, one of my regrets about the IMA deal was that the Lagan Silekhana palace was not treated as an archeological site. My British P-1864 Snider. So yours is a P1853 Muzzleloader versus a P1853 Snider-Enfield. CONDITION: Excellent and untouched with great finish to the blade and color to the scabbard.
