Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian Jon Meacham will discuss previous moments of crisis and partisan deadlock in American history and suggest how previous generations — and we, in our own time — transcended hours of fear by heeding what Lincoln called “the better angels of our nature.” About the Distinguished Carlson Lecture Her first book, the critically acclaimed Her seventh and most recent book, Goodwin’s extensive expertise on U.S. presidents and their leadership have made her a sought-after commentator on national television programs, including Meacham is Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Vanderbilt Department of Political Science and holds the Carolyn T. and Robert M.
